KABLAY/Service categories

Service categories

Choose a direction, open the detailed category hub, review typical jobs, and only then move to specialists or post a task.

KABLAY connects homeowners with licensed home-repair specialists across Israel — plumbers, electricians, tilers, painters, drywall installers, stretch-ceiling pros, handymen, and full-renovation project managers for apartments and commercial spaces.

Each category hub lists typical jobs, ILS prices, and specialists ranked by verified reviews. Use the catalog on the left to switch between categories, see exactly what is included, and understand the boundaries between trades (for example, when a licensed electrician is required rather than a handyman due to IS-61 standards).

Why start from the categories hub

  • See every service inside each trade — before contacting a specialist
  • Compare average ILS prices across categories
  • Understand which professional is actually required (e.g. a drywall installer will not do a stretch ceiling, and vice-versa)
  • Post an open task if you are unsure which category it belongs to

Ranges reflect typical visits in Tel Aviv / Haifa / Jerusalem. Central dense areas — top of the range; periphery and smaller towns — bottom of the range. Shabbat, holidays and emergency calls — add 50–100%.

What work legally requires a licensed specialist

In Israel some work must legally be performed by a licensed professional. DIY or unlicensed contractors are not only a safety risk but also grounds for insurance to deny a claim after a fire, flood or collapse.

Electricity — Ministry of Energy license

Any work beyond a bulb change: outlets and switches, breakers, RCD installation, any panel work. Panel work requires a Level 3 or 4 license.

Gas — Gas Authority license

Connecting, replacing or relocating a gas line, cooktop, oven or gas water heater. Permitted only for technicians with a Gas Authority license. A gas fault = immediate life risk, plus criminal fine if performed unlicensed.

Main stack in apartment buildings

Shared vertical plumbing, main valves, connection to the sewer manhole — requires a licensed, insured plumber, not a handyman. A mistake here means flooding the neighbours.

Load-bearing walls — engineer + permit

Opening, moving or removing a load-bearing wall requires a structural engineer's certification and a municipal permit. Without a permit — an offence plus a real risk of ceiling collapse.

Popular project bundles — which specialists to book together

Most renovations require 2–4 trades in the right sequence. Booking them upfront through KABLAY saves weeks of rework and sequencing mistakes (the electrician won't show up before the drywall installer finishes).

Kitchen remodel

₪25,000–80,000

Plumber + electrician + tiler + drywall (for the niche) + painter. Rough plumbing and electrical go in before tiling — wrong order = tear-out and restart.

Bathroom remodel

₪18,000–60,000

Plumber + tiler + electrician + stretch ceiling. Waterproofing, slopes and drain positions are critical — any mistake here affects 15–20 years.

Rental refresh

₪6,000–15,000

Painter + handyman + electrical inspection. 1–2 weeks, full visual refresh, no deep renovation. Ideal between tenants.

Full renovation of an 80 m² apartment

₪120,000–280,000

A project manager / renovation contractor coordinates all trades. 2–4 months. The best version: a written contract with a schedule, milestones and staged payments.

FAQ

How much does it cost to post a task on KABLAY?+

Posting a task and receiving offers is free for the client. Specialists pay a commission only after winning the job. No registration fees, no charges for failed leads.

Are all specialists on the platform licensed?+

Requirements depend on the trade. For electricians and gas technicians — a valid license is mandatory and on file. For plumbers, tilers and painters — verified experience and reviews; a license is recommended but not always legally required.

How do I know the price is fair before I book?+

Every category page (and this hub) publishes 2026 average price ranges. When you receive a quote, it is broken down into: labour, materials, transport. Comparing 3–5 quotes makes outliers obvious.

What happens if the specialist does not show up or does a bad job?+

There is a review system (only after completed work), a live rating, and KABLAY support that mediates disputes. In serious cases you can request a partial or full refund through the platform.

What is the difference between a handyman and a licensed electrician?+

A handyman hangs shelves, assembles furniture, changes handles — non-electrical tasks. Any work that exposes a wire, changes a connection or touches the panel legally requires a Ministry of Energy-licensed electrician. This line is legal, not stylistic.

Can I book an urgent visit on Shabbat or a holiday?+

Yes, in most categories. When posting a task, flag it "urgent" or "Shabbat/holiday". A 50–100% surcharge is standard. Only some specialists work on Shabbat — the filter will show only those who do.
