Choose the right type of cleaning
- Regular cleaning suits an occupied home and normally covers dusting, vacuuming, mopping, kitchen fronts, sinks, toilets and showers. Tidying, laundry, ironing and interiors of cupboards or appliances are usually extras.
- Deep or move-in cleaning reaches tracks, doors, skirting, empty cupboards, kitchen grease and bathroom limescale. Ask for a written inclusion list so “deep cleaning” means the same thing to both sides.
- Post-renovation cleaning needs a suitable fine-dust vacuum, repeated surface cleaning and careful removal of paint, grout, silicone or cement residue. Builders’ waste and heavy debris removal are not automatically included.

- Difficult parking, no lift, inaccessible exterior glass, urgent dates, holidays and large crews can raise the quote. Work at height needs the right provider and equipment and is not a standard window-cleaning item.
How to choose a cleaner
- Compare experience in your exact job, not only an overall rating: regular cleaning, post-build cleaning and upholstery extraction require different equipment and methods. Review photos and feedback on punctuality and inclusions.
- Agree in writing on crew and hours, equipment and products, windows and tracks, cupboard and appliance interiors, rubbish handling and damage policy. Flag natural stone, parquet, aluminium and delicate fabrics in advance.
- Photograph sensitive finishes and valuable items before work starts. At handover, inspect the property with the crew and list small corrections before they leave.
Safe cleaning around children and pets
- Ask which products will be used, how rooms are ventilated and how long surfaces need to dry, especially in children’s rooms, on mattresses and in homes with pets. Bleach must never be mixed with acids or ammonia.
- Surface mold cleaning does not solve a moisture source or leak. If mold returns, diagnose and repair the cause before paying for another cosmetic clean.
