Stretch ceilings in Kiryat Malakhi: how to choose a pro and what it costs in 2026

Need a stretch-ceiling installer (תקרה מתוחה) in Kiryat Malakhi? KABLAY lets you compare available profiles, portfolios, reviews, and specific badges for PVC or fabric ceilings, hidden curtain coves, and integrated lighting.

A stretch ceiling is the fastest and cleanest way to get a perfectly flat ceiling in Israel: concrete slabs are almost never truly level, and plastering and skim-coating the ceiling is expensive and messy. A stretched membrane goes up in 3-5 hours, hides every imperfection, conceals AC and electrical runs, and during a flood from above it saves the apartment — water stays in the film and is drained through a spotlight hole.

KABLAY helps you compare installers by portfolios, ratings and client reviews, then agree on a price directly.

What proper installation involves

  • Measurement and cutting. The installer arrives with a laser rangefinder, takes exact dimensions of all corners and diagonals, and the film is factory-cut to your contour accounting for shrinkage (PVC tightens ~7% when heated).
  • Track installation. Aluminum or plastic profile is fixed around the perimeter to the concrete ceiling or to the wall (optional Euro-Kit shadow profile with no visible joint). Profile depth dictates ceiling drop — usually 3-5 cm.
  • Backing plates for fixtures. Before stretching, platforms for spot lights, rings for chandeliers, and housings for LED drivers are installed. Skipping this means you cannot cut the film cleanly later — it needs rigid backing behind it.
  • Heating and tensioning (PVC). The room is heated to 60-70°C with a heat gun so the film becomes elastic. The installer fixes corners, then the harpoon edge of the film is tucked into the profile. Fabric ceilings use a cold-install method — no heating.
  • Cutouts and finish. After stretching, holes are cut for spot lights and chandeliers and wired to the pre-run cabling. A decorative masking strip is fitted between the ceiling edge and the wall.

5 marks of a professional installer

  • Certified materials. Uses European films (MSD, Pongs, Clipso, Descor) with fire and hygiene certificates for residential use. Cheap Chinese films in Israel smell for weeks and can sag within a year.
  • Electrical planning. The installer walks through the lighting plan up front — number of spots, chandelier position, RGB or single-colour LED, color temperature. Without this you end up cutting the membrane later and redoing work.
  • Clean work. Furniture is covered with film, walls are protected from accidental contact with the heat gun. After install there are no heat marks on wallpaper or paint.
  • Tools. Pro-grade gas or electric heater with thermostat, the right set of spatulas for each profile type, heat-resistant chandelier backings — standard kit for an experienced pro.
  • Warranty. A serious installer provides at least a 1-year warranty on tensioning, seams and fixtures. Premium films carry a 10-15 year manufacturer warranty on the material itself.

Most requested services

  • PVC ceilings: matte white for bedrooms and living rooms (the most popular), glossy for visual height, satin as a middle ground, "metallic" for loft interiors, moisture-certified for bathrooms.
  • Fabric ceilings: Clipso and Descor for living rooms where a matte, breathable texture is desired, paintable, with acoustic versions for gaming rooms and home theaters.
  • Multi-level: two-level drywall + stretch combinations, floating "islands" over a dining area or bed, curved transitions between rooms in an open-plan layout.
  • Hidden curtain coves: a recess integrated into the ceiling so the curtain starts right at the ceiling line — creates a floor-to-ceiling window effect.
  • Lighting: spot lights, magnetic tracks, RGB perimeter with smartphone control, warm LED strip in a cove, "floating ceiling" with LED below the lower level.
  • Special designs: "starry sky" with fiber optics or LEDs, photo-print (sky, city, artwork), translucent ceiling with flood lighting, 3D effects.
  • Repair and maintenance: re-stretch of a sagged ceiling, water draining after a flood from above, spotlight and burnt-out LED driver replacement.

FAQ

Are stretch ceilings safe?

Certified European films (MSD, Pongs, Clipso, Descor) carry fire and hygiene certificates for residential use. Every KABLAY pro works only with certified materials.

How much ceiling height do I lose?

Standard drop with a regular profile — 3-5 cm. With recessed spots the minimum is around 5 cm (the body of the fixture). A Euro-Kit shadow profile can reduce it to 2.5 cm.

What happens during a flood from above?

A PVC film holds up to 100 liters per m². The installer drains water through a spotlight hole, dries the room and re-stretches the film. In most cases the apartment is saved and the ceiling looks as new.

How long does a 15-20 m² room take?

A typical room — 3-5 hours including heating and fixture install. Two-level designs — 1-2 days. Furniture can be moved back the same evening.

Is there a warranty?

Only the selected installer or manufacturer may provide warranty terms. KABLAY may retain available task records or forward a complaint, but is not an arbitrator and does not guarantee the warranty or outcome.

Finding a stretch-ceiling installer through ads is risky — cheap film can smell or sag. KABLAY helps compare portfolios, reviews, material information and reference price ranges before choosing an installer.
