Perimeter light cove

A perimeter light cove gives soft indirect light and can make the ceiling feel higher. The result depends on proper offset, driver access and LED quality.

When to order this work

It is built in living rooms, bedrooms, halls or kitchens as part of a flat or multi-level ceiling, usually coordinated with an electrician and painter.

What to include in the request

  • Perimeter length and room shape.
  • Light type — warm, neutral, RGB or dimmable.
  • Driver location — access panel, cabinet or service niche.
  • Cove dimensions — upstand height and shelf width.

Typical cost in Israel

Expect from 145 ₪/linear m for the drywall cove excluding the LED kit. Strip, power supplies, controllers and electrical connection are priced separately.

What to watch for

Do not bury the power supply permanently behind sealed drywall. Drivers heat up and sometimes fail; they need access.

FAQ

Who installs the LED strip?

The drywall pro builds the cove; 220 V and power-supply connection should be handled by an electrician.

Can a cove be added to an existing ceiling?

Sometimes, but it is usually cleaner and cheaper to plan it with the ceiling from the start.

Why does LED light look spotty?

Common causes are too little offset, poor diffusion or a cheap strip with sparse diodes.
