Washing machine connection

A washing machine needs more than water and a socket. It needs a dedicated valve, correct drain height, a secured hose and a test that confirms it will not flood the neighbours during the first spin cycle.

What the technician checks

  • Water shut-off valve. It must close properly and stay dry under pressure.
  • Drain connection. The hose must be fixed, not kinked and not pull sewer odours back.
  • Level position. Bad levelling increases vibration and noise.
  • Hose condition. If the hose is old or too short, it is better to replace it immediately.

How connection is done

  1. The machine is positioned and levelled.
  2. The inlet hose is connected to the valve.
  3. The drain is connected to a siphon, riser or dedicated outlet.
  4. A short programme is run and joints are checked.
  5. The spin cycle is checked for movement and vibration.

Common problems

  • No dedicated valve. In an emergency the whole apartment has to be shut off.
  • The drain hose is left in a bath or sink. This is temporary and often ends in flooding.
  • The machine is pushed hard against the wall. Hoses get crushed and start leaking.
  • High water pressure. The inlet valve is overloaded.

Typical cost

  • Connection to ready outlets — 260–450 ₪
  • Replacing a valve or hose — priced separately by parts and scope
  • Reworking the drain or water line — quoted after inspection

FAQ

Can a washing machine be connected without a dedicated valve?

Sometimes technically yes, but it is a poor setup. A machine should have its own shut-off valve for leaks, service and replacement.

Why does the machine jump after connection?

Most often the transport bolts were not removed, the machine is not level or the floor is slippery. This is checked during the first run.

Should the new supplied hose be replaced?

Not always. But if it is too short, gets kinked or looks weak, installing a better reinforced hose immediately is the safer option.
