A shower bar looks like a minor accessory, but bad installation is exactly why it starts wobbling, pulling away from the wall or cracking tile. Precision matters more than force here.
What should be decided before installation
- Mounting height. Based on user height and hose length.
- Position relative to the mixer.
- Wall type. Tile, porcelain, block or plasterboard.
- Risk of hitting concealed pipework.
How installation is done
- Marking out and level check.
- Careful drilling through the tile.
- Installing anchors and fixings.
- Securing the rail and shower-head holder.
- Checking rigidity and adjustment travel.
Typical mistakes
- Poor layout. The rail ends up crooked.
- Wrong fixings. Especially on hollow or weak walls.
- Drilling too close to a tile joint.
- Drilling without knowing where the pipes run.
Typical prices in Israel
- Shower bar installation — 200–350 ₪
- On difficult tile or porcelain — an extra charge may apply
- With replacement of old fixings and adjustment — assessed on site
Frequently asked
Can the rail just be screwed into the old holes?
Sometimes yes, but only if the geometry matches and the old fixings still hold properly. Otherwise it is better not to force it.
Is there a risk of drilling into a pipe?
Yes, especially near shower outlets and concealed pipe runs. That is why layout should be deliberate, not approximate.
Why does a shower rail start wobbling after a month?
Usually because of poor fixings, weak backing or over-tightening that damaged the seating.
