Steel panel radiators are chosen for their clean appearance, even heat output and straightforward pricing. They are especially suitable for modern interiors and closed heating systems with clean water.
When a steel radiator makes sense
- A tidy visual look is important. A panel unit looks calmer than a sectional one.
- The system is closed and controlled. This matters for corrosion resistance.
- You want solid output on a sensible budget.
What installation includes
- Brackets and alignment. A panel radiator is sensitive to mounting geometry.
- Bottom or side connection. Depending on the model and pipe layout.
- Valve set. Shut-offs, thermostatic valve and air vent.
- Startup and pressure test. Leak-tightness check after connection.
What should not be missed
- Do not leave the system drained for long periods. For steel, that raises corrosion risk.
- Do not use weak fixings. Especially on aerated block or plasterboard.
- Do not mix up flow and return. The thermostatic valve will then behave incorrectly.
Typical prices in Israel
- Installing one steel radiator — 520–850 ₪
- With thermostatic valve and new shut-offs — 700–1,050 ₪
- With pipe alterations — from 950 ₪
Frequently asked
Is a steel radiator worse than aluminium?
Not worse, just different. It gives a different look and works very well in closed systems, but it is more sensitive to corrosion if the system is poorly maintained.
Can a panel radiator be mounted on plasterboard?
Only with solid backing or a dedicated support structure. On plain plasterboard without reinforcement — no.
Do I need a thermostatic valve?
Yes, in most cases. It gives proper room temperature control and helps avoid overheating.
