An old shower tray is often held not only by feet but also by silicone, mortar, tile and the drain. Careful removal prevents unnecessary damage and protects the waste line.

Frequently asked
Can the tray be removed without damaging tile?
Sometimes, if it was not built in. Old silicone, mortar and hidden fixings increase the risk of chips.
Should the trap be replaced immediately?
Often yes. If it is old or caused odour or leaks, keeping it under a new tray is not sensible.
