A hygienic shower is installed next to the toilet or bidet area to provide a compact hand spray for hygiene and cleaning. Unlike a standard shower head, the connection should be arranged carefully and not left under unnecessary permanent pressure.
Where the hygienic shower is usually connected from
- From the cold feed to the cistern or a nearby point.
- Through a separate tee and isolation valve.
- Sometimes through mixed water. That depends on the layout and user preference.
What installation includes
- Assessing the location and user convenience.
- Connecting to the water feed.
- Mounting the wall holder.
- Checking the spray head, hose and leak-tightness.
- Explaining safe operation.
What is critical here
- A separate shut-off valve. It is better not to leave the spray permanently under full pressure.
- A good-quality hose and fittings.
- A sensible holder position. So water does not drip across the floor and the hose does not interfere.
- Knowing where concealed pipes run before drilling.
Typical prices in Israel
- Hygienic shower installation — 340–650 ₪
- With extra fittings and a new connection point — higher depending on site conditions
- On difficult tile or in a tight WC — an extra installation charge may apply
Frequently asked
Can a hygienic shower be left permanently pressurised?
Better not. Many plumbers recommend closing the dedicated valve after use to extend the life of the hose and spray head.
Is a hygienic shower connected only to cold water?
Most often yes, but different layouts are possible. It depends on the bathroom setup and whether mixed temperature is wanted.
Does the holder usually require drilling the tile?
Usually yes if you want a proper fixed installation. The position should be chosen with concealed pipework and convenience in mind.
