A drywall ceiling levels concrete, hides wiring and AC lines, and creates lighting or complex geometry. The key is to define the shape, drop height and finish before work starts.
When to order this work
Order it during renovation, after electrical rerouting, when adding spotlights or a hidden curtain track, or when the existing concrete ceiling is too uneven for simple skim coating.
What to include in the request
- Area and room — bedroom, living room, hallway, bathroom or balcony.
- Construction type — flat, moisture-resistant, two-level, lit cove, curtain pocket.
- Lighting and wiring — spot count, LED strip, chandelier point, driver access.
- Finish — board installation only or also taping, sanding, primer and paint.
Typical cost in Israel
Guide prices: flat ceiling from 165 ₪/m², moisture-resistant from 195 ₪/m², two-level from 235 ₪/m², perimeter light cove from 145 ₪/linear m. The final quote depends on height, base condition, corners and finishing.
What to watch for
Ask whether joint taping, corner beads, access panels and paint preparation are included. Different crews use “turnkey ceiling” to mean different scopes.
Frequently asked
Should electrical work be done first?
Yes. Cables, spotlight points, LED drivers and chandelier output should be agreed before the boards are closed.
How much height does a drywall ceiling take?
Usually 7–12 cm for a flat ceiling with spots. Niches, ventilation and AC lines can require more.
Who paints after installation?
Sometimes the drywall crew, sometimes a painter. State whether you need paint-ready finishing and actual painting.
