A mixer is replaced not only when it is completely dead. It is often the better decision if the body is worn, the model is poor, the internals are heavily scaled or decent spare parts are no longer available.
When replacement is smarter than repair
- It leaks from several places at once.
- The cartridge is worn and the model is unusual. Proper spare parts are hard to source.
- Корпус с коррозией или трещиной. Ремонт перестаёт быть разумным.
- You want a more convenient model. For example, moving from a standard kitchen mixer to a high or pull-out one.
What is often done together with replacement
- Flex tails are replaced. Especially if they have already served for years.
- Isolation valves are cleaned or updated.
- Threads and the mounting position are checked.
- Eccentrics and covers are renewed. Particularly common in bath and shower points.
Where problems usually appear
- Old fixings are seized. Very common in kitchen sinks.
- There is little space under the worktop. The work takes longer than expected.
- The new tails are the wrong length.
- After replacement it becomes clear that high pressure was also part of the problem.
Typical prices in Israel
- Mixer replacement — 240–500 ₪
- With new tails and consumables — 350–700 ₪
- With difficult removal of the old assembly — higher depending on the real work
Frequently asked
If the cartridge can be changed, why replace the whole mixer?
If the body is sound and the model is decent, full replacement may not be needed. But if several issues already exist at once, partial repair often only delays the inevitable.
Can a new mixer be fitted onto old eccentrics?
Sometimes yes, but it should be assessed on site. If the eccentrics are crooked, leaking or mismatch the new geometry, they should be renewed.
How long does mixer replacement usually take?
A simple change may take 30–60 minutes. If access is awkward, fixings are old or the connection needs rework, it takes noticeably longer.
